Aichi Nagoya 2026 Infrastructure Project

Aichi Nagoya 2026 will see athletes from 45 countries and regions competing in 41 sports disciplines, bringing together people from around the world to celebrate the spirit of sport. This event will further strengthen the bonds between Asian nations while fostering peace and sportsmanship throughout the continent.

In the lead-up to next year’s games, organisers have already come up with contingency plans to evacuate athletes in case of a natural disaster. As such, they are preparing to house about 4,600 of the total 15,000 athletes and officials in a ‘floating Village’. This is a result of the organisers’ decision to lease a luxury cruise ship docked at Kinjo Pier in Port of Nagoya as compared to building a dedicated Athletes’ Village, which will save on costs.

The Athletes’ Village will also feature a range of facilities such as a dining hall and gymnasium, medical services and free internet. However, its timing poses a challenge as September and October are the peak typhoon season in Japan. This is the reason why athletes will be briefed on the evacuation process ahead of their arrival.

This latest project marks a new milestone for the Group, which has already established itself in Japan with the management of the Aichi Sky Expo convention and exhibition centre. It reaffirms the Group’s ambition to serve major events and territories through its passion for major infrastructure projects.
